A. LIBRARY AND INFORMATION CENTRE
Mandate
SFRI library and
information center is a prominent library of the state of Madhya
Pradesh in the field of forestry. It houses books, reports, Indian
Forest Records, Working Plans, Working Schemes, Forest resource
surveys and Sanctuary Plans. Apart from the research staff of the
Institute, forest officers, scientists and technical staff make use of
the library facilities. Students, research scholars from various
institutes and universities also visit the library regularly.
The library and
Information Centre maintains literature on forestry and allied
subjects. It has books on environment, silviculture, forest
protection, mensuration, management, marketing, utilization, social
forestry, biodiversity, ecology, botany, tissue culture, tree
improvement, law, medicinal plants, wild life, seed scheme and
computer science, etc.

Activities

Maintenance of general
and specific ledger files. At present 250 general and 173 specific
ledger files are maintained. The research results published in various
journals/bulletins and reports etc. were copied and added regularly in
the respective ledger files.

technical literature on forestry research.

research articles published in different journals/magazines/
newsletters/bulletins/Vaniki Sandesh/annual research report/extension
series.

Documentation of
research projects financed by external agencies.

Publication of quarterly

research knowledge among the users.

Sale of SFRI

Sale of Publications
The institute has
published 41 technical bulletins and 32 extension series which are
available for sale.
Journal Section
The branch is well
furnished with a reading room. During the year 21 Indian journals, 3 Foreign
journals, 6 Magazines, 7 Foreign newletters and 15 Indian newletters
are being subscribed for reference to the users.
